The city of Peoria Community Development Department is asking businesses for their cooperation by removing boards that cover doors and windows.  Many businesses reacted to the civil unrest that occurred in Peoria from May 31st to June 2nd by boarding up their windows and doors to protect their property.

The city of Peoria Community Development Department is asking businesses to remove boards from the doors and windows of their storefronts by Friday, August 14, 2020. Boarded windows are a blighting influence on neighborhoods that drive away customers and future private investment. Uncovering windows will communicate to residents and consumers that businesses are open.

The city of Peoria Community Development Department appreciates local businesses and continues to encourage residents to support and shop local. Removing boards from windows in our commercial corridors will aid this endeavor.
