The city of Peoria Community Development Department hosted the fourth Weekly Community Cleanup at Morton Square Park in the North Valley neighborhood on Friday, June 26th at Noon. A total of 65 volunteers helped from Habitat for Humanity, Peoria Park District, City staff, 74 to Spring Neighborhood Association, and Peoria Cleanup Volunteers to clean up litter and debris.
Due to the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend, there will not be a Weekly Community Cleanup this week. City offices will also be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of the holiday. Residents are encouraged to take a few minutes from their weekend to pick up litter and debris around their neighborhood. The Community Development Department appreciates Peoria for all the wonderful residents and advocates who work hard to improve their neighborhoods and dedicate themselves to improving their community.
The city of Peoria Community Development Department will continue to host weekly clean up events in neighborhoods throughout the summer. Community Development Department staff will provide trash bags, gloves, and a limited number of garbage pickers for residents, community members, and groups who would like to help. Participants are asked to bring their own face covering and are expected to maintain social distancing measures during the cleanup to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
