The city of Peoria is launching three financial assistance programs to assist nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and households.  These programs are made possible through the federal CARES Act that awarded the city of Peoria with an additional $1.6 million dollars in Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding to assist our community’s response to COVID-19.

Public Service Assistance Program

On Friday, June 12th, the city of Peoria will launch a Public Service Assistance Program to support public and nonprofit organizations’ responses to COVID-19. A total of $300,000 is dedicated to the Public Service Assistance Program to fund public services offered by nonprofits, 501(c)3 organizations, and government agencies who serve Peoria residents in low-income households.  The funding must be used to prevent, prepare for, or respond to COVID-19 with a minimum funding request of $10,000 and the maximum funding request of $60,000.

The application period begins at 8:00 AM on June 12th and ends at 3:00 PM on June 26th.  Applications will be reviewed by the CDBG Public Services Advisory Commission and agencies will be notified of the funding decision (following City Council approval) on Wednesday, July 29th. Small Business Assistance Program

On Monday, June 22nd, the city of Peoria will launch a Small Business Assistance Program to provide economic support to small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Small Business Assistance Program will provide some economic relief to small businesses who have experienced economic stress due to COVID-19.Over $1,000,000 is dedicated to the Small Business Assistance Program to provide assistance for specific fixed operating expenses such as rent, mortgage, utility payments, internet service, garbage service, insurance, and other fixed debt service.

The application period begins at 8:00 AM on June 22nd and ends at 3:00 PM on July 2nd.  The maximum award is $15,000 for small restaurant businesses with 6-50 employee. All other eligible businesses are eligible for up to $7,500. A lottery will be held on Tuesday, July 7th to select the order in which businesses receive funding. Applicants do not need to be present to be selected. The selected businesses will be contacted by City staff and a list of the lottery order will be available at www.appreciatepeoria.com.

Two online application training sessions will be held via GoToMeeting on June 22nd. The first online training session will be held at 10:00 AM and the second training session will be held at 7:00 PM. Household Assistance Program

On Monday, July 6th, the city of Peoria will launch a Household Assistance Program to provide rent and mortgage aid to households impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of $300,000 is dedicated to the Household Assistance Program to provide up to three months of mortgage or rental assistance up to $5,000 per household.

This program is made possible through the federal CARES Act that awarded the city of Peoria with an additional $1.6 million dollars in Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding to assist our community’s response to COVID-19. The Household Assistance Program offers assistance to residents who are delinquent on their rent, mortgage, or utility payments.

The application period begins at 8:00 AM on July 6th and ends at 3:00 PM on July 17th. Applicants will be asked for basic contact information to enter a lottery held on Tuesday, July 21th at 10:00 AM. Applicants do not need to be present to be selected, but if selected by the lottery, applicants will need to complete additional income and household information to receive funding. Applicants must be at or below 80% of the median area income by household size. The selected applicants will be contacted by City staff and a list of the lottery order will be available at www.appreciatepeoria.com.
