The Community Development Department and Councilwoman Denise Moore will host an informational session on Thursday October 11th at 6:00 PM at the Minority Business Development Center located at 2139 SW Adams.

The Informational Session is geared towards contractors and citizens who have interest in bidding on the 2019 Community Development Contract related to abating code violations on private property. Topics will include: the bidding process, bidding requirements and the scope of work involved. The contract covers abatement of exterior environmental code violations on private property which includes tall grass, cleaning up litter, removing debris and trash clean up. Contractors are assigned work orders to have the violations removed within a set time.

The contract allows Community Development Department staff to reduce blight in neighborhoods, increase property values, and increase public safety. Residents of Peoria are encouraged to report potential code violations or unsafe structures to the Code Enforcement Division by using the Peoria Cares app, website, or by calling 309.494-CARE.
