On Monday, March 5, Bradley communications lecturer Laura Bruns invited Community Development staff to speak with her COM 103 class to give students background information on Peoria for an upcoming persuasive speech on how Peoria could be improved with $1,000. Students learned about the unique challenges and problems facing Peoria from a Community Development perspective ranging from homelessness and affordable housing to neighborhood building and civic engagement. Students are presenting their ideas to a panel of City staff and elected officials on Friday, April 20th where the panel will vote for the most practical and impactful idea.
Community Development staff in attendance included Senior Grants Coordinator Kathryn Murphy, Grants Coordinator Nick Mitchell, Land Manager Eric Setter, Communications Specialist Stacy Peterson, and Assistant Director of Community Development Joe Dulin.
